WP1 Project Management (Leader: LMI)

Objectives

The objectives of WP1 are the overall management, progress monitoring and stakeholders management of the project. WP1 aims at:

  • Setting up, operating and maintaining the project administrative and scientific management infrastructure.

  • Ensuring the overall scientific and technical coordination of the project.

  • Ensuring collaboration and coordination with relevant government bodies regarding research programmes

  • Performing a self-assessment of the project progress.

  • Conducting progress reviews on M6, M12 and M18

WP2 Knowledge exchange and competence development (Leader: ETF)

Objectives

  • To facilitate transfer of the S&T competence and knowledge from the EU partners (including partners from the EU’s convergence regions) to the WBC researchers

  • To enable information exchange and sharing between all project partners, including external experts

  • To provide opportunities for people networking, in particular for young researchers

  • To establish a joint PhD supervision program focusing on students from WBC and the EU’s convergence regions represented in the project.

WP3 Researchers’ mobility (Leader: WUT)

Objectives

The main objective of this WP is to plan and organize two-way exchanges of researchers and students between project member institutions. The specific goals are:

  • Eight young researchers from WBC and the EU’s convergence regions to visit the EU based WSN centres of excellence (short visits) to take part in the ongoing research projects or to attend lectures and courses as part of their regular studies.

  • Eight experienced researchers to be involved in two-way exchange for the purpose of giving lecturing, supervising PhD students and collaborating on joint research projects.

WP4 S&T research infrastructure improvements and upgrades (Leader: FEEIT)

Objectives

  • Put in place a state-of-the-art research infrastructure in WBC centres (hardware, software, communication) that will facilitate ongoing and future research and educational activities in the WBC region and will allow researchers from these centres to actively take part in collaborative research projects. The required infrastructure will be set up based on the requirements of the selected two use cases (personal health monitoring systems and emergency/disaster recovery)

  • Demonstrate the capability and potentials of the newly developed sensor network premises throughout WBC region.

WP5 WBC FP7 Integration (Leader: INRIA)

Objectives

  • Accelerate integration of WBC research organizations in FP7 networks and RTD projects

  • Increase FP7 related competence of the WBC and the EU’s convergence regions research institutions

WP6 Public dissemination (Leader: CTI)

Objectives

  • Disseminate information about the wireless sensor networking research efforts and achievements in the WBC, EU convergence and outermost regions.

  • Cross-fertilize research communities and initiate multidisciplinary research work in the targeted regions.

  • Promote and raise the research profile of WBC, EU convergence and outermost research centres through participation at various events, such as workshops, conferences, etc. and initiating new relevant forums at both regional and international level.

  • Spread information about potential pragmatic benefits of diverse WSN based applications and entice local governments and industry to get involved in the development and deployment of these solutions and providing support for them.

  • Reaching a wider audience by contributing popular science columns in the press and mass media.

WP7 Future RTD planning (Leader: UB)

Objectives

  • Define strategic research areas of common interest to project participants for the future research

  • Define a framework for future collaboration of project participants
